FAQs

Q?

Can I start diving training together with my kid?

A.

Sounds like a great idea! Diving could be a family sport!

We offer training for teenagers as of 16 years old.

Q?

I am a PADI (CMAS, SSI, etc.) diver, can I progress my skills with BSAC?

A.

Yes, that is possible.

Most of the diving qualifications from well-recognized organizations can be easily aligned with BSAC ones.

A BSAC equivalent chart is available on BSAC website

Q?

How long does it take to get my first diving qualification?

A.

In many other places, you can get diving training within a few days,  however, that means a very intensive full-days training.

Here in Brunssum, we took another approach. Since diving is our hobby, not a full-time occupation, our instructors teach in their free time. The basic BSAC diving course (Ocean Diver) consists of 6 theory lessons, 5 swimming pool lessons, and 4 lessons in open water. The course typically starts in the Autumn with theory interlaced with pool sessions. Lessons are given on Monday evenings.  In the Springtime students typically accomplish theory with a written exam and have completed pool lessons. When the temperature outside is invitingly pleasant, we start with open water training. Most students finish the course before the summer vacation period.

Q?

I am already a qualified diver. Can I dive with you?

A.

Sure! All divers are welcome in our club.

Once you become a member of our club you can dive with us and rent diving equipment if needed. However, due to limited stock, our students have always a priority in equipment rental.

For students, equipment is included in the training package. For all the rest we offer a click-card system. Each click-card has 50 boxes and costs 25€. That means that one click is 0,50€.

1 click for: mask, snorkel, fins, suit or compass
2 clicks for: regulator or torch
3 clicks for BC or tank filled with air.
Rental is valid for one week (from Monday to Monday)

Q?

How much does it cost to get a basic diving training?

A.

You need to become a member of our club. The annual fee is 65€

Since our diving program is aligned to British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) you have to be a member of BSAC as well. This costs 70.50GBP (British pounds)

The basic diving training pack (aka Ocean Diver) costs 80€

We will provide you almost all the necessary diving equipment (like a suit, buoyancy compensator, regulator set, tank with air). This will be rented without extra charge, however, a rental must be supported with a 200€ deposit. You will get your deposit back once you finish your course and return all equipment.

The training itself consists of 3 parts: theory, swimming pool, and open water lessons. For open water, depending on the dive site, the entrance cost is typically around 10€.
